MUNSTER | Two Hammond teens were robbed at gunpoint in Munster late Thursday night, police said.
According to Lt. Ed Strbjak, two 17-year-old boys told police they were walking home from the St. Thomas More Fun Days festival at the church at 8435 Calumet Ave. around 11:30 p.m. when they were approached by two men near the Target store at Broadmoor and Calumet avenues.
The teens told police one of the suspects displayed a weapon and robbed them of their cellphones and $1,000 cash.
Strbjak said the teens called police about 30 minutes later after walking to a business south of the area where the alleged robbery occurred.
Strbjak said the incident remains under investigation.
