The Munster Chamber of Commerce has announced that Munster resident Don Erminger has been elected as the chairman of the board of the Munster chamber .
Erminger was recently promoted to district manager for SVT, LLC and VanTil/Almira’s, supervising three Strack & VanTil stores located in Whiting, Hammond and East Chicago, in addition to supervising the VanTil supermarket in Hammond and the Almira’s Bakery operations.
He started as a carryout clerk 35 years ago and has worked his way up through various positions within the store, spending his entire working life in the supermarket business.
Erminger is also a Munster Lions Club member and just completed his presidency of that organization last fall. He is a long-time resident of Munster along with his wife, Denise, his son, Kyle, and stepsons, Jeremy and Joshua.
The Munster Chamber of Commerce is pleased to represent the commerce community in the Town of Munster and surrounding region since 1955. The growing organization has a membership of approximately 230 members.
As chairman of the board, Erminger will oversee Munster chamber events, including the Love Your Business Multi Chamber Luncheon and Vendor Fair on Thursday.
Next up is the Administrative Professional Luncheon on April 24, followed by a Schmooze Cruise on July 31, Golf Outing on Sept. 18 and Breakfast with Santa on Dec. 7.
He will also conduct monthly membership meetings on the second Thursday of each month. Scheduled speakers this year include Richard Sopko superintendent of School Town of Munster; columnist Jerry Davich of The Post Tribune; and the cast of the Theater at the Center’s production of “Oh What a Glorious Feeling,” with a performance from the show. Two networking luncheons are also planned.
