CROWN POINT | A 55-year-old Munster man was sentenced Tuesday to serve four years in prison after pleading guilty to a 2005 charge of felony neglect in the burning of his then-infant son.
The four-year sentence was suspended to be served on probation, court records show.
Carlton Franklin Davis was charged in August 2005 with two counts of felony neglect after the baby boy was found to have suffered severe burns causing his skin to peel off, according to previous reports by The Times.
Davis and the child's mother told police similar accounts in which the child, then 7 months old, had dirtied his diaper and was placed in a tub of water.
When the couple discovered the child's skin peeling off some hours later, the baby was taken to The Community Hospital in Munster before being transferred to a Chicago hospital.
