MUNSTER | The Munster Town Council has approved paying an additional $11,100 annual insurance premium for $5 million in coverage for sexual harassment lawsuits that might be filed by town employees.
Assistant Town Manager Clay Johnson explained to the council he originally thought there would be no premium increase when the council approved a new sexual harassment policy in February. However, the town’s insurance provider, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., notified him of that increase.
“The staff believes that this premium is a small amount to pay for this amount of coverage, taking into account the expense of many sexual harassment suits,” Johnson said. “In future years, this will be included in our annual renewal program.”
