MUNSTER | After another successful Briar Fest event at Briar Ridge in Schererville, organizers presented a $16,494 check to the Cancer Resource Centre. This is the sixth year the neighborhood festival was used as a meaningful way for residents to give back to their communities.
The Cancer Resource Centre, 926 Ridge Road, helps patients and their families affected by cancer get the support, education, and encouragement they need to cope and heal emotionally and spiritually. All programming at the center is free and includes a wide variety of support groups, mind-body classes and lectures. The setting also includes a resource room filled with books, videos, and Internet access.
The center is a program of the Community Cancer Research Foundation, which works to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality in the region by supporting and advancing cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment, education and prevention efforts of the hospitals of Community Healthcare System.
