MUNSTER | The Lake County coroner's office is asking for help identifying the man who was found dead Sunday in Munster.

The white man, who weighed about 220 pounds, was found dead in Hart Ditch near Hawthorne Drive and Ridge Road early Sunday. Munster Police Chief Steve Scheckel said there weren't any signs of trauma on the body.

Scheckel said officials are awaiting toxicology results to determine a cause of death. The case is being treated as a death investigation.

The man was 6 feet 1 inches tall and had long salt- and pepper-colored hair, according to a release from the coroner's office. He was last seen wearing a brown Dickies T-shirt with a white long-sleeved T-shirt underneath, tan cargo pants and yellow Air Jordan shoes.

He had tattoos on his left chest, on his left knee, right forearm, right arm, right ankle and on his back, according to the release. The coroner's office did not release any further details about the tattoos.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call the coroner's office at (219) 755-3265.
