MUNSTER | Larger Than Life: Ann Singer 1922-2010 is will be on display April 26 through June 9, 2013 in the Atrium Gallery at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts, 1040 Ridge Road, Munster, Indiana. Join us on Sunday, May 5 from 1-3 for an exhibit reception. This event is FREE and open to the public. Public viewing hours for this exhibit are Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, Saturday 9:00am to 4:00pm and Sunday 11:00am to 4:00pm.
Ann Singer was born in Czechoslovakia. In 1952, she made her way to the United States with her husband, Leslie Singer. The couple lived in New York City before making their way to Indiana, first residing in Bloomington. In the 60s, the Singers lived throughout Gary before finally settling in Crown Point in the early 70s.
Mrs. Singer was a well-known and accomplished abstract and modern artist. Among her personal and professional peers were artists, Sonia Delaunay and Victor Vasarely. Singer was a painter, sculptor, furniture maker and jewelry maker. Much of her work was created from the late 50s to the early 70s. Her work was shown in galleries worldwide.
