MUNSTER | “America’s Beloved Tenor” Daniel Rodriguez and international soprano sensation Marla Kavanaugh will perform a program of vocal works at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Munster High School Auditorium, 8808 Columbia Ave.
Single tickets will be available on the night of the performance for $25. Season subscriptions for one or two adults are $65 and $130, respectively; add $15 for a family subscription that includes school-age children.
It was fate that brought Rodriquez, a New York police officer, into the spotlight after 9/11. While a country in mourning looked for answers, his stirring a cappella renditions of “God Bless America” and the National Anthem brought renewed hope to America and introduced Rodriquez to the international stage.
Since that memorable performance Rodriguez’s touring has brought a myriad of experiences, including the 2002 Winter Olympics, a PBS Memorial Day concert, regional opera, numerous television appearances and meeting his bride, New Zealand soprano Marla Kavanaugh.
Kavanaugh is an established opera performer and recitalist, with credits including a performance with Plácido Domingo and the Los Angeles Opera. The couple now concertize together, performing a diverse musical program encompassing musical styles from opera to popular song.
The Northwest Indiana Concert Association has assembled an outstanding group of artists to perform during the 2013-14 concert season, including a performance by actor/musician Hal Linden.
