HAMMOND | A New Chicago man pleaded guilty Wednesday to two federal counts of producing and receiving child pornography.

Gerald Cox faces between 15 and 30 years behind bars on one count and between five to 20 years on the second, and up to a lifetime of supervised release, according to court records.

Prosecutors agree to dismiss five other counts in return for the plea.

Court documents say Cox took sexually explicit photographs and/or videos of an 11-year-old girl on at least 12 occasions in the bathroom and bedroom of his New Chicago home during 2009 and 2010.

He also viewed as many as 100 child pornography images during an average week on the Internet, saved some of those images and knowingly received multiple images online, according to the court.
