CROWN POINT | Attorney William Fine on Saturday confirmed his appointment to the Lake County election board.

Fine, of Munster, said he was appointed by Lake County GOP Chairman Dan Dernulc, as was Dana Dumezich, of Schererville.

Fine, who most recently lost a bid for a state representative to Democrat Mara Candelaria-Reardon, said he is looking forward to serving on the election board.

Dumezich, the wife of former state Rep. Dan Dumezich, could not be reached for comment.

"I'm real excited that they accepted this opportunity," Dernulc said of the new appointments.

Fine and Dumezich replace Kim Krull and Allan Katz on the GOP side of the board.

Dernulc thanked Krull and Katz for their service saying, "They were good people, but I want to move in a new direction."
