VALPARAISO — Opportunity Enterprises seeks crafters and vendors for Holiday Shopportunity from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 2. The event features a vendor fair in addition to treats and goodies in the Simply Amazing Market, free photos with Santa, and face-painting for the kids. Only one seller of each line or company will be permitted. Vendors will have either a 6-foot or 12-foot table along with access to Wifi and electricity. Sign up by Nov. 17 for early registration ($30 for 6-foot and $40 for 12-foot), or by Nov. 27 for inclusion ($40 for 6-foot and $50 for 12-foot). 100-year anniversary of Assumption BVM Parish
HOBART — Tickets are available for the Assumption BVM Parish 100th anniversary dinner dance on Dec. 3 at Assumption Parish Hall, after the 12 p.m. Mass. The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Donald Hying, and clergy in attendance will include Bishop Dale Melczek, the Rev. Jon Plavcan, the Rev. Martin Dobrzynski, the Rev. David Nowak and the Rev. Lou Pasala. Deacon Dale Webdell and Deacon Jeffrey Burton will also be in attendance. Tickets for the event are just $35/person and it includes a family style dinner, coffee and desert, dancing to DJ Chad Wynn who will play hits from the past 100 years. A cash bar will be available. Natural childbirth class
LAPORTE — The Natural Childbirth Class offered at LaPorte Hospital is now free. Women who would like to experience a water labor and birth, and explore options for delivering without medications, are invited to the class from 6-8 p.m. Nov. 21, at LaPorte Hospital. The program is open to mothers and a support person at approximately 32 weeks of pregnancy. All those who attend are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing. Porter’s Pink at Portage offers mammograms
Porter Health Care System presents Pink at Portage, a special monthly event for women needing their annual mammogram, from 7 a.m. to noon Nov. 21 in the Women’s Center at Portage Hospital, 3630 Willowcreek Road. Women can get their annual mammograms and receive a complimentary brunch.
To participate in Pink at Portage, a woman must be age 40 or older and know the date of her last mammogram, and have a physician’s order.
