The Lake County election board counted provisional ballots from the May 5 primary Friday.

Forty-seven ballots were rejected, six were counted, and eight voters had until 3 p.m. to show up with proper identification to have their votes count. Those who failed to show up by the deadline had their votes rejected.

North Township Board member Richard Novak, who lost the race for 3rd District county commissioner to County Councilman Michael Repay by 74 votes, said Friday he was still considering challenging the count.
