Police releasing few details on Hammond homicides
Hammond police on Thursday continued to release few details on the homicides of a beloved couple found dead in a Calumet City forest preserve Monday.
"We've returned very few requests from the media because we really have nothing new to report," Lt. Richard Hoyda, spokesman for the Hammond Police Department, said early Thursday.
Milton McClendon, 78, and his wife, Ruby McClendon, 76, were found dead Monday in a Cook County Forest Preserve in Calumet City. Autopsies completed Tuesday determined Milton McClendon died of a single gunshot wound to his head, while Ruby McClendon was shot multiple times.
Hoyda said Thursday detectives are continuing to gather evidence as their investigation into the homicides continue.
No official statements or press conferences are scheduled, he said.
Hoyda declined comment on media reports of blood found inside the home, suggesting the homicides took place in Hammond and not in Calumet City or elsewhere.
"We'll have no comment on any evidence," he said.
