CROWN POINT – Police are seeking a 57-year-old Gary man alleged to have shot a couple in October at their residence.

Edward M. Pointer was invited Oct. 19 into the couple's residence in the 1900 block of Delaware Street after he was released from jail, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Pointer and the 45-year-old man spoke for a while before Pointer allegedly said, “Now I'm going to kill you (expletive),” and shot him twice in chest, the affidavit states.

The man dropped to the floor, and begged Pointer to spare his girlfriend, also 45, the affidavit states.

Pointer entered the couple's bedroom and fired three shots at the woman, who was hit in the leg, according to the affidavit.

Police have not identified a motive for the attack, according to a Gary police news release.

Pointer remains at large and should be considered armed and dangerous, the release states.

Pointer is charged in Lake Criminal Court with two counts of attempted murder and two counts of battery by means of a deadly weapon.

His bond is set at $10,000.

Anyone with information on Pointer's whereabouts can contact Detective Sgt. William Fazekas at 219-881-1210 or the Crime Tip Line at 866-CRIME-GP.
