HAMMOND | Robert Lockhart was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in prison for his participation in the Imperial Gangsters, federal court records show.

The region man pleaded guilty in January to conspiracy to participate in racketeering activity. He admitted selling 80 to 100 kilograms of marijuana and also was accused of dealing cocaine, court records show.

Lockhart said he joined the Imperial Gangsters in 2008 when he was 14 years old.

In return for Lockhart's guilty plea, federal prosecutors agreed to dismiss a second charge pending against him.

Lockhart also was sentenced to five years of court supervision following his release from prison.
