Award winners recognized
Registered nurses Kimberly Sausman, lactation consultant, Postpartum Unit, Northlake Campus and Dawn White, 2W3 Medical Surgical Unit, Southlake Campus at Methodist Hospitals are Daisy Award winners. The Daisy Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. Each Daisy Award honoree is recognized at a public ceremony in her or his unit and receives a certificate of recognition, a Daisy Award pin, and a hand-carved stone sculpture titled "Heart’s Touch."
Chamber partners with food truck square
CHESTERTON — The Duneland Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the town of Burns Harbor to bring the European Market on the road to its Food Truck Square. The Burns Harbor Food Truck Square is an established event that continues to grow and is held 5 to 8 p.m. every Wednesday from May 26 through Sept. 12 at the former site of the Westport Community Club, at the corner of Haglund and Westport. Providing funds for student wish lists
VALPARAISO — Avalon Springs Health Campus selected The Valparaiso Family YMCA as its nonprofit Hope for the Holidays program. Avalon Springs Community Service representative Heather Schlegelmilch and other employees raised funds to provide wish list items for preschool students. Their additional monetary donation also will help with scholarship opportunities for children who otherwise would not be able to participate in preschool.
