Lenten Quiet Day

VALPARAISO | St. Andrew's Episcopal church will host a Lenten quiet day from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at 505 Bullseye Lake Road. The facilitator will be Andrew Marr from St. Gregory's Monastery in Three Rivers Michigan. His quiet day meditations will revolve around, Jesus the Forgiving Victim. A light lunch will be served. Spaghetti Dinner

HIGHLAND | The Our Lady of Grace Athletic Committee is sponsoring its annual Spaghetti Dinner from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at 3025 Highway Ave. Enjoy homemade spaghetti sauce with Italian sausage made from a secret Puntillo family recipe. Dinner will also include salad, bread, a beverage and desert. The proceeds of the event will benefit the student/athletes of OLG as the school looks to upgrade equipment and uniforms. 7th anniversary celebration

EAST CHICAGO | Antioch Missionary Baptist Church will host a weekend celebrating Pastor Justin Kidd's 7th anniversary at 3902-06 Alexander Ave. The theme is Gideon's Signs from Judges 7:6-7. On March 15, Pastor Douglas Sloss of First Baptist Church of East Chicago will preach and the Mass Choir will sing. On Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. Pastor Dr. Wayne Snodgrass of Progressive Union Baptist Church, Huntsville, Ala., will preach.  On Sunday evening, Rev. W. N. St Patrick's Day Corned Beef Dinner

SCHERERVILLE | St. Michael Church will host a St. Patrick's Day Dinner with corned beef, cabbage and carrots, sausage and sauerkraut, Irish potatoes, chicken tenders, hot dogs, coffee and desserts from 5 to 8 p.m. at 1 W. Wilhelm St. Cash bar. Tickets will be available after all masses or at the parish office. St. Patrick's Dinner

HAMMOND | G.R.A.C.E. youth group will host a St. Patrick's dinner March 15 for a youth gathering trip from 5 to 7 p.m. at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 7227 Hohman Ave. Dinner includes corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, Irish soda bread and dessert for $10. Sloppy Joes, hotdogs, cheesy potatoes, chips and dessert will be available for $8. Children 5 to 12 years old eat for $5 and those 4 and younger are free. All meals include tea, lemonade and coffee. Church Family Nights

HOBART | Barrington Ridge Baptist Church will serve dinner from 6 to 8 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. 97 Bracken Parkway. The price is $3 for singles and $8 for families. Inspirational Book Discussion

HIGHLAND |"In the Land of Blue Burqas" by Kate McCord depicts sharing the love and truth of Christ with women living in Afghanistan, which has been called the world's most dangerous country in which to be born a woman.
