SCHERERVILLE | A 51-year-old Calumet City man allegedly forced his way into a home last week and pointed a handgun at a Schererville officer.
Saul Hernandez-Barraza was charged with felony burglary, burglary while armed with a deadly weapon, intimidation and pointing a firearm, police said. He also faces a misdemeanor count of carrying a handgun without a license.
Police said Hernandez-Barraza's relative was staying at a home in the 8800 block of Durbin Court Thursday.
Hernandez-Barraza allegedly forced his way into the home and demanded the relative return to his home.
Hernandez-Barraza pointed a handgun at a Schererville officer who responded to the incident, police said. Hernandez-Barraza later complied when the officer commanded him to drop the gun, police said.
Hernandez-Barraza was taken into custody and transported to Lake County Jail. He was released Saturday after posting bond, police said.
