SCHERERVILLE | The Schererville Chamber of Commerce named its 2013 Citizens of the Year for Schererville yesterday at the organization’s monthly membership luncheon at Tiebel’s Restaurant on Rts. 30 and 41 in Schererville.
Paulette Young of Riverdale Body Shop and Representative Hal Slager were each presented with plaques by Schererville Chamber President John Brackins to commemorate the event.
“I am so surprised to receive this award,” Young said. “I couldn’t be happier and more proud to be of service to this wonderful community,” she added.
“I was also surprised and humbled by this prestigious award,” Slager stated. “I am committed to our community and am glad to see that people feel I have served us well.”
The awards are given annually to one female and one male who have served Schererville, past and present.
The Schererville Chamber of Commerce is a Business Organization, incorporated to promote business and economic development and to enhance the leadership and future of the Schererville Community. In business since 1963, the organization is located at 149 E Joliet Street in Schererville.
