SCHERERVILLE | Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness in joint collaboration with the Sage Fruit Company wanted to reach out to the local school systems in their communities. With the generous donation of 23 cases of apple which would equal approximately 2024 apples from Sage Fruit and the vision of Omni Health & Fitness to create a wellness program that reaches out to all of the staff members of the Lake Central School System, in Schererville, Dyer & St. John, and the Duneland School System, in Chesterton.

Working with administration in each school district, this wellness program will start touching lives being Friday, May 24th. The idea is to present each employee in the school systems with an apple. The school system staff members touch the lives of our youth on a daily basis. With summer months fast approaching, we would like school staff to take the time to rejuvenate themselves for they are the role models that so many of our youth look up to. The apples will have a message thanking them and offer them a free opportunity that would encourage staff members to better health over the summer months. The message invites the school employees for a free week to one of our two state of the art clubs and a discount to continue with a summer membership at the STUDENT rates.

The Wellness Committee, Principals, and Teacher’s Union leadership are excited about the Apple a Day promotion launched by Franciscan Omni Health & Fitness, according to Rob James, CPA, CBO; Director of Business Services at Lake Central School Corporation.

This wellness program took many people and efforts from local business to launch. We also wish to thank the Strack & Van Til’s on U.S. 30 in Valparaiso for helping us in this task. They took delivery and stored the apple for Omni until delivery could be made. This is true community involvement to thank both school systems for what they do for our youth.
