LANSING | A Highland man was injured in a helicopter crash Wednesday evening at the Lansing Municipal Airport.

The crash happened at 5:15 p.m. as an instructor and a student were practicing hovering maneuvers at the airport, Illinois State Police said. The student, Charles Fink, 45, of Highland, was maneuvering the aircraft and struck the pavement.

The impact caused the helicopter to flip onto its right side, police said. The crash did not cause a fire.

Fink had minor injures and was taken to Community Hospital in Munster, police said.

Raymond Daniel, 28, of Schererville, the instructor inside the helicopter, was not injured, police said.

The helicopter, a Robinson R22/B, seats two people, police said.
