SCHERERVILLE | A group of about 50 people met in Schererville Thursday night to raise funds for Bill Daley's gubernatorial campaign in Illinois.
Daley was expected to attend the private dinner. Daley, a former White House chief of staff, is running as a Democrat. He is also the son and brother of former Chicago mayors.
Jim Wiesel, who was hosting the fundraiser, said many people in Illinois and Northwest Indiana have mutual interests such as development of the Gary/Chicago International Airport.
He said a few people from Indianapolis were expected to attend the fundraiser while the rest were Northwest Indiana residents.
