SCHERERVILLE | The Young Scholar preschool students at Forest Ridge Academy love the popular book "Pinkalicious.”
In fact, the class all came down with an acute case of "pinkatitis" shortly after reading the story about a little girl who just can't resist one more bite of pink cupcakes, then turns pink when she eats too many.
The class began their pink afternoon by preparing for snack time. Teachers helped the students mix up a batch of pink cupcakes. While patiently waiting for the treats to bake, the children mixed white frosting with red food coloring to make it pink. The cupcakes were later topped with pink sprinkles, of course.
The children then listened to "Pinkalicious” read aloud to them.
"It's one of the most requested stories our students ask for on a daily basis,” teacher Stephanie Sandoval said.
After snacks, the teachers encouraged everyone to look in the mirror to find their reflection had turned them completely pink thanks to pink plastic wrap over the mirror.
Each student decorated an extra cupcake to share with a sibling, just like pinkalicious did for her brother. They finished off the special day with a few coloring pages and a quick shout out of "PINK-A-BOO!"
