SCHERERVILLE | A 25-year-old activist announced Monday he is running for the chairmanship of the Indiana Federation of Young Republicans.
Michael Neal, a political consultant and marketing director, said Monday he will campaign for the post at the Young Republicans state convention May 18 in Indianapolis.
Neal currently is secretary of the state organization and chairman of the Lake County Young Republicans.
He has most recently worked for the campaigns of state Rep. Rick Niemeyer, R-Lowell, and state Rep. Hal Slager, R-Schererville.
The Young Republicans reaches out to registered Republicans, 18 to 40 years of age, and provides them with understanding of the issues of the day and leadership skills. The group offers a chance to meet key public figures, affect elections and meet like-minded individuals at home and across the nation, according to its website.
