SCHERERVILLE | The Schererville Police Department has started a new program to reach out to Schererville senior citizens and homebound residents who don't have family in the immediate area.

Through the Police Department's morning call program, Schererville will create a list of senior citizens and homebound residents. Members of the department's Volunteers in Police Services program will call those people each weekday to ask if they need services.

People interested in being included in the list can contact Schererville police Cpl. Tim Arvanitis at (219) 322-5000.
