The Schererville Chamber of Commerce is celebrating its 50th year of
being part of a great town and helping business owners, small and large, network
and watch their businesses grow in Schererville’s strong economic environment.
Chamber President Ken Balazs says Schererville is a great place to
live and a great place to do business.
Not only is 2013 the Chamber’s 50th year but it’s also marks the 50th
Annual ACYE Corn Roast. It is Lake County’s longest running corn roast. Balazs,
of Pinnacle Hospital, has been part of this annual event for more than 14 years.
This year’s corn roast, which will be held Friday, July 26, at Redar
Park (Austin Avenue and Gregory Street) runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Schererville’s American Legion Post 485’s Beer Garden will be open until 10:30
p.m. The park will be filled with vendors; there will be games, contests and
50 years, this has become a town tradition and a great way to get
together with friends and family without having to cook. Ticket prices have
remained the same for several years, making this an affordable and fun night.
Tickets cost $7 for ages 12 and older and $4 for children ages 5 to 11. Children
four and under are free. The price includes all the grilled corn you can eat
with one polish sausage or hot dog (with or without Teibel’s world-famous
sauerkraut) and one soft drink.
