SCHERERVILLE | The community of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 77th and Lincolnwood Avenue, is hosting its 34th annual Greek Festival from noon to 10 p.m. daily, Thursday through Sunday.
This year’s theme, “It's Chic to Be Greek,” will offer a wide assortment of cuisine including barbecue lamb, shish-ka-bob, Athenian chicken, gyros and a Greek Village Salad, in the comfort of the air conditioned banquet hall. For those who prefer the warm Northwest Indiana sunshine, outdoor dining is also available.
For those in a hurry, drive-thru and call-in service will be available.
Enjoy cool beverages from indoor and outdoor bars. Top off a meal with a visit to the Homemade Greek Pastry Table, where baklava, galaktobouriko, diples and loukoumades will be available.
Children can enjoy carnival rides while adults play bingo and take a chance at the $10,000 first-prize raffle.
Tour the church with the Rev. Constantine Aliferakis, shop Greek and craft shop, or enjoy Greek/American music.
The weekend concludes with a patriotic fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
