SCHERERVILLE | Open the door and the heavenly smell of freshly baked yummy treats hits you hard. Banana-nut cupcakes. Key lime tarts. Warm chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. Who could resist?
In addition to the Schererville community, fans of Cookielicious Bakery come from across Northwest Indiana.
“I’ve been coming since day one,” said Tori Smits, of Highland. “I am addicted to the sugar cookies but always bring home more than just the cookies. I met the owner when she did a special baking workshop for a group we both belong to and have been hooked ever since.”
“I’ve always wanted to open my own business,” said Kathy Jacobsen, Cookielicious Bakery owner. “Five years ago I had my daughter and when she was about a year old, I started selling my baked goods at the Highland and Munster farmers markets. This location opened and I just couldn’t pass it up.”
The bakery at 344 E. U.S. 30 is located in the strip of stores across from the Residences at Deer Creek, a newly built luxury retirement community. Other neighboring businesses include Buddy and Pals and The Patrician Banquet Center.
“I am positive that Cookielicious will do well here,” said Jeannine Quigley, healthy living coach and Arbonne consultant, who was in attendance at the business' grand opening on behalf of the Schererville Chamber of Commerce.
“Her bakery is unique, centrally located and she is very involved in the community,” Quigley added. "It’s a good fit all around.”
