SCHERERVILLE | Dry eyes were few and far in between as St. Michael Catholic School students honored the men and women who fought for their very freedom.
Over twenty five veterans, were treated to a student led ceremony, that included prayers, videos, gifts, music, stories, poems and the finale of 'Taps' played by Band Director Glen Pawlak.
"This is the largest group of veterans that we have ever had participate," said Msgt Joseph Minor, St. Michael Catholic School athletic director. "It means a lot to our school that our students understand the importance of their commitment and dedication to our country."
Student Council President Benjamin Repay read a letter sent by President Barack Obama honoring the veteran's service to the nation.
