Northwest Indiana Symphony Kicks Off Free Summer Concert Series at Redar Park
The Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra kicks off its free summer concert
series July 19 at Schererville’s Redar Park.
Per patron’s requests, Symphony Conductor Kirk Muspratt said the summer
program features a mix of patriotic songs, light classical pieces, light
traditional pops, marches, Irish tunes, and movie and Broadway tunes. All
concerts begin at 7:30 p.m.
Muspratt said Northwest Indiana Symphony season tickets will be
conveniently sold at all the summer concerts at a discounted price.
“Last year we had some sold out concerts and had to turn people away,”
Symphony t-shirts will also be sold at the concerts.
The Schererville concert will be held at Redar Park, located on Austin
Street north of Hwy. 30. The rain location is Lake Central High School, 8400
Wicker Ave. St. John. Two Schererville students performing at the concert are
Anna McMahan, fourth grade is playing the pianoand sixth grader Elyse Darling
will play the violin.
The July 20 Cedar Lake concert will be on theTown Complex Grounds, 7408
Constitution Ave., with the rain location at Hanover High School, 10120 W. 133rd
The July 26 Griffith concert will be in Central Park, 600 N. Broad St.,
with the rain location at Griffith High School, 600 N. Wiggs St.
The July 27 Crown Pointconcert will be at Franciscan Communities, located on the
southwest corner of Main and Franciscan streets with the rain location Crown
Point High School, 1500 S. Main St.
The August 2 Hammond concert will be at the Wolf Lake Pavilion, Calumet Ave. at
Sheffield Ave. with the rain Location at the Calumet College of St. Joseph
Athletic Center, 2400 New York Avenue in Whiting.
The August 3 Gary/Miller Beach concert will be at Marquette Park, 1 North Grand
Ave. with the rain location at Wirt Emerson Visual and Performing Arts Academy,
210 N. Grand Blvd.
