10 Percent of Yogurt Shop Tuesday Sales Benefit Community Causes

At Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, ten percent of sales each Tuesday

benefit community causes from approved local organizations including veterans’

groups, charities, schools, parent teacher associations, sports teams and cancer

victims.

Lake County Animal Control, Tri-Town Relay for Life, Down’s Syndrome Association

of Northwest Indiana, Opportunity Enterprises, Wyler Children’s Hospital, Up

with People, Schererville, Lake Central and Crown Point baseball teams, cancer

victims, cancer research and local gymnastic teams are some recent

beneficiaries, co-owner Bill Baltzersen said.

The Down’s syndrome Association of Northwest Indiana is an organization close to

his and his wife’s hearts, Baltzersen said, as their daughter has Down’s

syndrome.  She is an accomplished artist with her own website

www.aneladesigns.com.

“Our whole purpose in existence as a Christian organization is that

we want to give back to the community,” Balterzen said. “All they do is fill out

this simple one-page form.”

Balterzen and his wife Judy decide which causes to support.

“We want to give back to the community in which we are involved,” Balterzen

said. “I have written some pretty substantial checks to various organizations as

a result of it.”

The one-page application forms are available at the shop, 1505 U.S. Hwy 41, in

Schererville’s Crossroads Plaza. Store hours are: 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday

through Thursday; 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 1:30 p.m. to

9 p.m. Sunday. The phone is (219) 440-7093.

Sweet Frog offers 16 flavors of soft serve frozen yogurt and 60 plus fresh

toppings. Balterzen said the secret ingredient is fun – which makes for a great

kid-friendly experience.

Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt serves premium brand all natural yogurt

including two sugar free choices for diabetics and two sorbets for the lactose

intolerant.

Baltzersen said what sets his yogurt apart is its solid consistency

and flavor. For example, the peanut butter yogurt tastes like real peanut

butter, he said.

Special discounts are offered during the week for college students,

senior citizens and families. Sporting event and movie patrons receive ten

percent discounts with ticket stubs. Servicemen, firefighters and police

officers in uniform always receive 20 percent discounts, Baltzersen, a U.S. Army

veteran, said.

Baltzersen said Sweet Frog was founded on the principles of

Christianity and a belief in bringing happiness and a positive attitude into

customers’ lives. He said the acronym F.R.O.G. stands for Fully Rely on God.

“We are creating a very positive atmosphere here,” he said. “This is

a place where kids like to come, where employees like to work.”
