SCHERERVILLE │Team Toyota officially unveiled its new dealership at 400 Indianapolis Blvd. on Thursday.
Twice the size of its previous facility just down the street in Highland, the new dealership features expansive showrooms, a customer lounge with WiFi and a service area with a three-lane service drive, a three-vehicle indoor delivery area and complimentary car washes for customers. It also is equipped with 23 high-tech service bays, compared to 13 bays in the former building.
“We went from approximately 18,000 square feet to 36,000,” said Team Toyota General Manager Jason Akers.
Team Toyota Dealer Principal Michael Leep said the more than $7 million dealership “is alive with energy.”
"When you come in here, you know that these people are excited about taking care of you and taking care of your vehicle needs,” he said.
Kevin Fletcher, general manager of the Chicago sales region for Toyota Motor Sales, presented Leep and his staff with a ceremonial Japanese sword. The presentation of the Katana sword from automaker to dealer is a long-standing tradition at Toyota.
“It symbolizes strength, quality and integrity of the Toyota dealer,” Fletcher said.
Fletcher also said the new facility represents the strength of the Schererville market.
Schererville Town Manager Bob Volkmann said the site already had been divided and planned for mall-type development.
“It certainly is a great site for a single user,” he said. “It’s a great location, and we’re real excited about them being here.”
