SCHERERVILLE | Schererville police are asking for the public's help in locating a man wanted on warrant in connection with the May 19 homicide of a 24-year-old mother there.
Stephen Lee Henderson, 25, of Gary was charged May 23 with murder and murder in the perpetration of a robbery in connection with the robbery and murder of Jacqueline Gardner, 24, at her apartment in the 8000 block of Alpine Lane.
Michael Craig Jr., 22, of Merrillville, and William Blasingame III, 30, of East Hazel Crest, Ill., received the same charges in connection with the crimes and are currently in custody.
Henderson remains at large and is considered armed and dangerous, according to police. Witnesses said he had a shotgun with him when he entered Gardner's apartment the night of the murder.
Henderson, who also goes by the name "Box," is African-American, 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. Police said he has at least one tattoo on his right arm reading "Steve."
Henderson may be driving a late 1990s model Ford Escort. Police said he has been known to frequent the area of 41st Avenue and Tennessee Street in Gary and could possibly be in Dolton or Harvey.
