SCHERERVILLE | The railroad crossing on Main Street near U.S. 41 will be closed for seven days starting Saturday while Norfolk Southern completes repairs, town officials said
If weather and other factors are favorable, the project could be completed earlier than expected, Town Manager Bob Volkmann said.
The closure comes during a road construction project at the Main Street and U.S. 41 intersection.
The roadwork is associated with the Shops on Main development.
Volkmann said workers handling the road project will install a median on U.S. 41 while the railroad crossing is closed.
