SCHERERVILLE | SCHERERVILLE – Watson Elementary School is hosting Lasermania at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the school, 333 W. 77th Ave.
The program is being held to congratulate staff and students and celebrate two state of Indiana achievements. Watson was designated an Indiana four star school and also earned a letter grade of A, meaning exemplary performance based on Indiana's A-F accountability model.
Watson is the only Lake Central School Corporation elementary school to achieve this honor three years in a row. Indiana's new A-F model holds schools and corporations to higher standards and provides a more accurate picture of their performance by incorporating student academic growth as measures of success. Letter grades for elementary schools are based upon English/Language
Arts and Math ISTEP+ performance, participation and improvement as well as student growth. Lasermania is a high-energy reward assembly with laser fun set to positively-themed, rock/pop music.
