SCHERERVILLE | The Women’s Association of the Northwest Indiana Symphony Society Fall Salon is scheduled for noon Nov. 3 at Briar Ridge Country Club, featuring Kara Bershad, and John Schreckengost, both principals with the Northwest Indiana Symphony Orchestra.

Harpist Bershad is professor of Harp at North Park University and The Moody Bible Institute and founded Tick-Tock Publications, which publishes chamber music arrangements for harp. She is principal harpist of the Northwest Indiana Symphony and also performs with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Ravinia Festival Orchestra, and the Grant Park Symphony.
Schreckengost graduated from Butler University summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in music education and earned a master's at Bowling Green State University. During seven years as principal horn for the Israel Sinfonietta, he pursued an active solo and chamber music career, with extensive recording and broadcast performances.
Returning to the U.S., he was named principal horn of the Northwest Indiana Symphony in 1991 and also holds positions in the Chicago Sinfonietta and Illinois Philharmonic, and has played with the Joffrey Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Nutcracker Ballet at the Arie Crown, and Chicago productions of "Sweeney Todd" and "The Secret Garden."
Schreckengost currently teaches horn at Valparaiso University and Concordia University in Chicago.
