MUNSTER | Northwest Indiana residents could see the first snowflakes of the season as soon as Monday evening.

The National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow watch for portions of Northwest Indiana. Porter County is expected to get the heaviest snowfall.

According to the watch, the area could get more than 6 inches of snow with the heaviest snowfall happening late Monday into Tuesday morning.

Temperatures are expected to range from the mid 30s to the lower 20s until Tuesday, which would be the coldest early November temperatures since 1996. By Thursday, temperatures are expected to gradually ease into the 40s, according to the National Weather Service.
