Flood warning remains for Kankakee River at Shelby

A flood warning issued for the Kankakee River at Shelby will remain in effect until Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

As of 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, the river was at 9.7 feet. Flood stage is 9 feet. The National Weather Service reports minor flooding is occurring in lowland, agricultural areas.

The river is expected to gradually fall below flood stage by Friday afternoon.
