HOBART – Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in men and women of every ethnic group in the United States. Lung cancer accounts for 26 percent of all cancer deaths; an estimated 427 Americans die of lung cancer every day.

In recognition of November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month, and in collaboration with the Lung Cancer Alliance, St. Mary Medical Center will host a free program, “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer,” at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the auditorium.

At 6 p.m., pulmonologist Charles Rebesco, MD, will present “Updates in Lung Cancer Detection and Treatment.” At 6:30 p.m., radiologist Koppolu Sarma, MD, will present “Non-Surgical Management of Early State Lung Cancer/Radiation.” The free presentation is open to the public. Call 219-836-3477.
