ST. JOHN | Kindergarten Enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year will be held at all six Lake Central Elementary Schools on Wednesday and Thursday, March 12 & 13 from 9-11 a.m., and Noon - 2 p.m. To be eligible for kindergarten, a child must be 5 years old on or before August 1, and legally reside within the Lake Central School Corporation boundaries.
Prospective kindergarten students must accompany their parents to enrollment. At that time, parents must present their child's legal (not hospital) birth certificate, their valid Indiana Driver’s License or State ID with current address, two proofs of residency, (i.e., home ownership papers or rental agreement and one current utility bill verifying address), and in the case of a divorce or separation, a copy of the custody papers. The child will be given a general kindergarten screening.
Prior to the first day of school, parents must provide the Lake Central School Corporation with written proof that their child has been immunized. Indiana Law (Code 20-8.1 1-7-9.5) requires the doses: 5 doses of DTaP, 4-polio, 2-MMR, 3-Hep B, 2-Varicella /Chicken Pox (or physician documentation of chicken pox disease history will be accepted as proof of immunity) and 2-Hep A. Medical Forms will be provided at registration.
The Lake County Health Department offers free immunizations to all residents. The Clinic, 2900 West 93rd Avenue, Crown Point, is open on Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Please note: All persons MUST be registered by 3:45 p.m., at the latest.) If the child has had shots previously, please bring the Shot Record to the Clinic. If you have any questions, please call the Clinic – 755-3658.

Joliet St. Schererville, Kolling Elementary, 8801 Wicker Ave., St. John, Peifer Elementary, 1824 Cline Ave. Schererville, Protsman Elementary, 1121 Harrison Ave. Dyer and Watson Elementary, 333 W. 77th Ave.
