ST. JOHN | Townhomes should soon begin rising in an unfinished subdivision with the Plan Commission's final plat approval for the Meadows of St. John.
Veteran area developer and builder Dennis Meyers said he plans to start construction of the four-unit townhome buildings in the subdivision’s multifamily section shortly.
Each unit would have 1,300 to 1,400 square feet and sell for $160,000 to $170,000.
The four two-story buildings would be built in the Beacon Place cul-de-sac along Framington Drive. The target date for completion is year’s end, he said.
Meyers hired Land Technologies to design the townhomes on the four lots he bought in the subdivision bordered by 85th Avenue and Kolling Drive.
In May, Meyers and Doug Rettig of Land Technologies appeared before the Plan Commission with the original plans that called for five buildings on the four lots.
However, the Plan Commission opposed constructing that many buildings on four lots and asked for revisions and a redesign of the project.
In granting approval of the Meadow of St. John townhome’s final plat, the Plan Commission agreed that Meyers would provide a letter of credit totaling more than $40,400.
Meyers also represented the Lake Central Plaza that he developed and owns. He sought a waiver from the town ordinance requiring all large trash containers to be enclosed.
Meyers showed the commission photos of where the shopping center’s trash bins are and how they are hidden from view.
The commissioners granted the waiver as long as Meyers puts up a section of fencing to hide the grease trap from the Blue 82 restaurant/sports bar.
