ST. JOHN | McDonald’s is coming to town.
McDonald’s Corp. of Oak Brook plans to build the town’s first golden arches at 97th Lane and U.S. 41 once all the drawings are finished and approvals and permits are granted.
The St. John Plan Commission heard preliminary details about the where the restaurant will be from Town Manager Steve Kil at Wednesday’s meeting. The site is currently the location of Eenigenburg Quality Water in the Eenigenburg 2nd Addition.
That building will be torn down later this year to make way for the McDonald’s. Construction of the restaurant won’t start for 90 to 100 days, pending approvals, Kil said.
Owner John Eenigenburg will build a new Quality Water facility one lot north of the restaurant.
McDonald’s has an engineering firm working on the site plan that will be presented to the Plan Commission at its 7 p.m. work study session Sept. 19.
Kil told the commissioners that he has talked with McDonald’s officials about relocating the drivethru menu board and drivethru to the back of the restaurant.
A public hearing on the proposed McDonald’s restaurant will begin at 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at the St. John Municipal Building, 10955 W. 93rd Ave.
