ST. JOHN | The town has been awarded a federal COPS grant specifically to hire a military veteran.
Applications for the position of police officer will be available only to veterans who have been on active duty for a minimum of 180 days since Sept. 11, 2001.
Applicants must provide a copy of their DD214 form. They must also be 21 years old and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
They must also be U.S. citizens of good moral character with no felony convictions and possess a valid driver's license.
Applicants must not be 36 years old by the time of their appointment.
Applications are available at the St. John Police Department, 11033 W. 93rd Ave., through Thursday.
Completed applications must be returned to the St. John Police Department no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 15.
