ST. JOHN | St. John police are seeking the public's help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a string of thefts from unlocked vehicles captured on surveillance video at a local gas station.

According to police, the thefts took place early Sunday near 84th Place and Christopher Drive. The suspect took cash, credit and gift cards and a .45-caliber handgun, police said.

The suspect also used a stolen Speedway gift card at the Speedway gas station, 8575 Wicker Ave. later that morning.

Surveillance video captured the suspect and police are hoping still photos from the video will help identification.

They are asking anyone with information regarding the thefts of the suspect to contact Det. Steve Flores at (219) 365-6032.
