ST. JOHN | A study session of the proposed South Shore rail line extension is planned for the Thursday St. John Town Council meeting.
Mark Lopez from the office of U.S. Rep. Pete Visclosky, D-Merrillville, is scheduled to attend.
Visclosky has been rallying local communities to support the South Shore extension by putting up a share of their receipts from Lake County's new County Economic Development Income Tax (CEDIT).
A South Shore line eight-mile extension to Dyer has been proposed.
The Town Council meets at 7 p.m. in the St. John Municipal building, 10955 W. 93rd Ave., St. John.
