ST. JOHN | The parish of St. John the Evangelist is offering a program for individuals who are struggling with the issue of divorce.
Deacon Ed Bodley notes; “Divorce is not an event that takes place in a courtroom, it is a process. It is a process that begins long before the divorce decree is finalized. The same holds true for people in need of healing; that too is a process. Often times, people who are faced with a painful divorce are unequipped to deal with the many hardships that this presents.”
The successfully proven program entitled; “Divorce and Beyond” will be employed to help those who are in this situation. It is a ten step program that deals with the new realities brought on by divorce.
The sessions take place in a confidential support group setting that includes others who are struggling with this issue as well as some who have already had and can share their own divorce experience. “People in this situation need a place where they can vent their anger, pain and frustrations”, Deacon Bodley said. The initial part of the program is designed for just that. It then transitions to offering experienced advice as to how to best cope with one’s new realities. Then, ultimately it leads to issues of healing, growth and moving forward with one’s life.
We are scheduled to meet on ten consecutive Monday’s at 7 p.m. beginning on January 6. Please contact Deacon Ed Bodley 219-365-7784 for further details.
