ST. JOHN | St. John the Evangelist welcomes everyone to its annual festival, which begins July 21. The four-day festival concludes July 24.

This year's festival, themed "Food, Family, Fun," features nightly entertainment, carnival rides, the Big Ticket $10,000 Raffle and a fabulous assortment of scrumptious food.

Fest hours are Thursday: 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM; Friday: 5:00 PM - Midnight; Saturday: 3:00 PM - Midnight; and Sunday: 3:00 PM - 10:00 PM.

The 2011 St. John the Evangelist Parish Festival offers a smorgasbord of mouth-watering food including new this year, Chicago Pierogies, Drago's Shish-ka-bobs, and Dairy Queen Ice Cream. Returning vendors are Margarita's Bar & Grill, authentic Mexican cuisine and Welch's Grilled Steak Sandwiches. Back by popular demand are Sammies Sammiches, Fr. Sammie Maletta's Specialty Sandwiches, The Garden of Eatin' (veggie), Holy Smokes! Turkey Sammich, Holy Roller Meatballs, Hickory Smoked BBQ Pork Sammich.

Plenty of family fun is on hand, too. Carnival rides are back again this year. Friday is Wristband Night. Pre-Sale wristbands are available at the St. John Strack & Van Til location for $10 from July 7 - 21st. Additional activities and events include indoor Bingo, kids games, pony rides, donut eating contest and the Fest Mile + 5K Run.

Texas Hold'Em Tournaments will be held on Thursday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in the air-conditioned gym. Our Gambling Casino will be offered in the Big Tent alongside our Beer Garden.

Local and regional musical talent will perform in the Family Tent offering live music each evening, featuring rock, alternative, power pop, experimental, funk, fusion and praise rhythms. Whether you're looking to just "kick back and relax" or putting on your "dancin' shoes", there is entertainment at the Fest for everyone. Big name entertainment includes the fabulous Jim Bulanda's Tribute to Frank Sinatra, The Crawpuppies, The Maz Brothers and Nicole Jamrose. Also included is Fresh Hops, a 7-piece band from the Tri-Town Area of Northwest Indiana.

The St. John the Evangelist Parish Festival is being sponsored by local community businesses including Strack & Van Til-St. John, Schilling, Citizen's Financial Bank-St. John. Other sponsors include, St. John Wine & Spirits and St. John Liquors; ZigEs Funland; Hometown Appliance; Smoothie King; and Palmira Golf Club.

A FREE Shuttle Bus Service is available to and from the festival grounds on both Friday and Saturday. Pick up and drop off locations:
