ST. JOHN | The Lake County Public Library's St. John branch recently welcomed two new readers thanks to the gift of a statue from the St. John Garden Club.

The club presented the library with a statue of two children reading a book, which was installed in the library's front garden. Club members generously donate their time in caring for the library's gardens and flowers year-round.

“The statue is lovely and enhances our bulb and perennial garden on the southeast side of our building,” said the library's Branch Manager, Deborah Walker. “Children have already noticed the statue when they come to the library and have come over to look at it more closely. We know other patrons will enjoy seeing it in our gardens in every season.”

The St. John Garden Club meets monthly at the St. John branch library, 9450 U.S. 41, and attends Lake County Master Gardener programs held the same evening.

Call the library at (219) 365-5379 for future garden program topics.
