The Times investigative editor Marc Chase is scheduled to be on Lakeshore News Tonight -- it airs on channel 56 and cable channel 17 -- today at 9 p.m. to discuss the recently opened Civil War exhibit at the Indiana Welcome Center in Hammond.
The exhibit, “Region United, Nation Divided: Civil War in the South Shore,” commemorates the stories of Northwest Indiana’s men and women who sacrificed during our nation’s bloodiest war.
Tune in to the 9 p.m. Lakeshore Public Television newscast to learn more about the exhibit, which opened Friday and runs through May 3 at the Indiana Welcome Center, 7770 Corinne Drive, Hammond. The Welcome Center is located just off of Interstate 80/94 at the South Kennedy Avenue exit.
Chase -- who helped coordinate, design and write narrative text for the exhibit -- has volunteered his time to help replace more than 80 worn, broken or missing Civil War veteran headstones in nine cemeteries spanning Lake and Porter counties within the past two years.
