HOBART | TradeWinds Services will be fully operational at its new Hobart location Jan. 2, a spokeswoman said.
"It's close and we're excited about it," said Lisa Daugherty, director of marketing and development for TradeWinds Services.
TradeWinds traditionally closes its doors from Christmas to New Year's and this year is no exception, Daugherty said.
"We will open Jan. 2, then have a big grand opening at either the end of February or in early March," Daugherty said.
In early October, TradeWinds announced plans to move administrative offices from its Gary location at 5901 W. Seventh Ave. to its new location at the former AmeriClean building at 3198 E. 83rd Place in Hobart.
"We're beginning with a soft move," Jon Gold, CEO of TradeWinds, said at that time. "We will move consumer services, classrooms and equipment last in order to minimize disruption to our consumers and their caregivers."
The move, which required more than $3 million in renovations to the building, was made possible by a contribution from an anonymous donor.
TradeWinds was founded in 1966 as a facility that offered physical rehabilitation services to children in Northwest Indiana. TradeWinds now provides a variety of services to children and adults with disabilities including child care, adult day training, residential services and employment services.
TradeWinds also produces products for various industries.
Administrative and nonprogramming offices will relocate first. The full move will be completed by late December.
